Time

All things will eventually settle.  All dust settles.  All wars end whether you think they do or not.  Life ceases to exist at some point.  All things end.  I know this.

When someone tells you 'It's ok, it'll be over soon.  Don't worry.'

I understand their intention.  They want to reassure you that it's ok, that your failures are but a mere moment in time, and yes, there is wisdom to be found in this.

But the real and true question lies in -- how long?

How long until the dust settles?  How long till the war ends?  How long till life ends?  See... the question isn't 'Are we going to die?'  The answer is yes.  The emotions, the fear, the hysteria is drawn from our innate phobia temporalis.

I'm not interested in correcting your advice to anyone, you can tell them whatever you want.  I only ask that when someone is in distress because of something like this, simply adorn the mindset of 'How long?' and then imagine staring into a void, an ocean, something endless, and ask yourself the same question again.

Then you can understand.
